Instrument Quality
A quality program requires quality musical instruments. By the time students enters Richardson High School, they will be expected to be using what is considered a step-up quality instrument and a good Pernambuco or carbon fiber bow. In most cases these items will have been or will be purchased during the 8th or 9th grade year. One advantage of owning such an instrument of investment quality is that in contrast to "beginner" instruments, quality string instruments actually gain value as they age. Students will also find the "step-up" instruments are easier to play and produce a better tone, thus experiencing greater success. See your director or private teacher for local recommendations, rather than doing one-click purchasing. The companies below have instruments for rental and for purchase.
