A quality program requires quality musical instruments. By the time a student enters Richardson High School he/she will be expected to be using what is considered a step-up quality instrument and a good Pernambuco or carbon fiber bow. In most cases these items will have been or will be purchased during the eighth or ninth grade year. One advantage of owning such an instrument of investment quality is that in contrast to "starter" instruments, which can depreciate in value, quality string instruments actually gain value as they age. If a purchase is needed, see your director or private teacher. We would be glad to make recommendations and consult with students and parents in order to make an appropriate purchase.
